ASK ABDI: HOW DO I HANDLE MY OVER-ACTIVATED THIRD EYE?

QUESTION: I have read your book "Shadows on the Path." I would like to ask, if you can help me with a serious problem. Eight years ago I  stupidly did some dangerous practices for my "third eye.”  I now know it was wrong to do such garbage practices. But it caused damage that has not gone away. I feel at nearly all times a strong stream there. It hinders me in many situations in my life. I have also read by Bô Yin Râ, that invisible entities can suck out the energy of people who awaken their "third eye." So I have so much fear that I can hardly live my life. Could you please tell me: how can I stop these sensations? In your book you talked about having experienced similar things and I thought that maybe you could help me.

ANSWER:

Heartbreaking that you have been suffering for so many years. Be gentle with yourself as it was not you “stupidly doing some dangerous practices” unknowingly. Experientially speaking, we get drawn towards extreme practices as a way to numb and soothe emotional pain. You chose an extreme mediation practice. As easily it could have been drugs or other forms of addiction which are unconscious ways to deal with our emotional pain.

Start with kindness towards yourself. What you are experiencing is difficult enough without judging yourself harshly. Stay conscious of your thoughts as they become a part of the problem when dealing with what you are going through. Negative self talk and thought is a form of illusory control over something we do not have control over. The control actually comes from learning to identify this activity.

I know the fear of which you speak. It is beyond terror and then some. The existential fear of dying, of being taken over by these energies etc are no small matter. Ironically the fear itself actually opens up more to these energies. It is a known trick with twisted heart shamans to parcel out fear to attract these disembodied entities (similar to putting out bread crumbs for birds), to pull them in and to use them for attacking. So working with and not feeding the fear is part of your learning process.

The fear attracts these energies, these energies can be scary which in turn creates more fear. And so goes the cycle. These energies can get us stuck in negative thinking patterns so staying aware of our thought process is crucial. Observe when it comes up and do not feed it by engaging it. Literally stop it when it comes up. Replace it with a short sentence for your inner child (who is beyond frightened) from the adult you. “I got this” or “you are safe” are good ones.

There are other things you can do to protect yourself. Grounding is the most potent tool. To literally step away from thinking and pull yourself into your physical body. Incessant thinking is the enemy here. Learn to strength the muscle of kinesthetic  awareness. FEEL. Your body. Your feet. When I was going through my ordeal, I had a small container of gravel in a cardboard box the size of my two feet. I would step into it and walk in place. The discomfort of the the gravel against the bottom of my bare feet would force me to drop into my body.

From an energetic perspective, the energy flows where the awareness is. Your years of attention on your third eye has made you very aware of any and all sensation in that area. That pulls the energy up constantly. By lowering your awareness (which will have to be forced initially) you can calm that center and lower the energy. I have several audio and video pieces on my website to guide you. Your posture is also important since correct skeletal posture allows the energy to drop as well.

See this as a graduate school program for stepping into your power. You are not helpless here. There are courses of action that will be of assistance to you. There are many books out there that describe psychic protection. I have found mantras helpful. I have for decades used Hein Bratt’s Gayatri Mantra for both protection as well as clearing my home and work space. Sound does wonders especially when you are having those rough patches.

I know it is difficult but I have full faith that you can take care of yourself and use this difficult process as a doorway to self knowledge.
