ASK ABDI: HOW TO PROTECT ONESELF WHEN HEALING OTHERS?
QUESTION: Something unpleasant has come up recently in a healing session I was doing... again. I thought I would check your website and see what you've posted and maybe it would help. And there was something similar - I recently did a healing on two different patients and I took on their issues! One had chronic groin pain and the other had vertigo. How do I protect myself?
ANSWER: Grounding is crucial when doing any type of healing work. The first part is to be grounded before one starts the work. Some type of body centered breathing/feeling exercise is helpful before the arrival of clients. The second is to be totally embodied while the session is progressing and the client is in our field and us in theirs. This helps not only in better receiving and transmitting information/healing, but also works in keeping us protected. Easier said than done, but practicing this level of presence reveals PRESENCE.
